Transitioning to Private Practice College Counseling, presented in cooperation with the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), focuses on the keys to building a successful independent college counseling practice. Participants will gain the knowledge needed to prepare for a successful transition – discussing business issues (marketing, contracts, liability); understanding the differences between school-based and independent consulting, including parental involvement; exploring ethics, resources, field research, and more. This workshop is designed specifically for those currently working as university admission officers or secondary school counselors who are considering using their existing knowledge to begin work as an Independent Educational Consultant (IEC) in the future.

In addition to the esteemed faculty, participants will hear from experienced and successful IECs who will join the workshop over the course of the day to share ideas and best practices.
