Women are advancing into leadership roles in enrollment management in lower numbers than men. While women appear to be well represented in the “middle management” ranks of the profession, a 2014 NACAC survey found that they are still underrepresented within senior level positions. Women interested (or who “should” be interested in senior level positions in higher education) should attend this highly interactive preconference session. Executive search consultants from Witt/Kieffer’s Enrollment Practice will address succession planning, preparing oneself for making a career transition, gendered behavior in the interview process, negotiating an offer, and best practices and behaviors in the job search and interview process. Campus leaders – including women who have already achieved senior enrollment leadership roles – will share relevant examples from their own experiences and discuss effective mentoring, requisite skills for women to progress in their careers, building one’s confidence, and how one knows when it’s time for a career change. The workshop will include exercises in identifying personal impact within current roles and visioning future impact. The session will be highly participatory with opportunities for large group interaction, small group discussion, and networking. Participants will have ample time to ask questions and learn from the session presenters as well as their co-participants. Women who have previously participated in similar sessions have appreciated the opportunity to hear from women leaders in the field, connect with old and new colleagues, and experience a dedicated time and space for conversation with other women enrollment professionals.
This seminar requires an additional fee and can be purchased during the registration process.
